Two Full-time Research Assistant Openings as of April 2018:

Mouse research assistant: The Vazey (labvazey.org) and Moorman (moormanlab.org) labs at UMass Amherst are looking for a full-time research assistant to participate in studies involving behavioral, pharmacological/chemogenetic, and physiological investigation of the locus coeruleus and prefrontal cortex in mouse models of chronic stress and alcohol exposure.  See a recent manuscript here and a description of research plans here.

Responsibilities will include some animal husbandry including maintenance of transgenic lines, managing the mouse alcohol/stress core, performing behavioral and immunohistochemical studies, assisting with physiology and other lines of research, and lab management duties.  Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or another relevant degree as well as some research experience.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous mouse neuroscience research experience.  The successful applicant will be trained on relevant techniques as necessary.

Rat physiology research assistant:  The Vazey (labvazey.org) at UMass Amherst is looking for a full-time research assistant to participate in rat studies involving behavioral, pharmacological/chemogenetic, anatomical and physiological investigation of attentional circuitry with a focus on the locus coeruleus noradrenergic system.

Applicants should have an undergraduate degree in neuroscience, biology, psychology, or another relevant degree as well as some relevant research experience.  Preference will be given to applicants with previous rodent neuroscience research experience.  The successful applicant is expected to show good attention to detail and will be trained on relevant techniques as necessary.
